When you think of a Hudson Valley wedding, you probably imagine a rustic barn or farm setting. But this Italian-American couple wanted to celebrate their love in a more elegant and sophisticated way. They chose the Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown, New York, which is just north of New York City in the Hudson Valley.
The ceremony took place on the terrace overlooking the Hudson River and the reception was held inside in the main ballroom. The bride wore a traditional white gown with lace details on her train. “It was very important to me that my dress reflected my heritage and I wanted something different than what everyone else wears,” she says.
For their wedding favors, they went with edible treats: macarons from Paris Pastry Shop in Yonkers and cannoli from Michelino’s Bakery in New Rochelle, New York (which also made their cake).
The couple wanted to create an atmosphere that felt like an elegant dinner party — not an over-the-top affair — so they kept things simple with minimal decorations with their best friends as bridesmaids and groomsman.
